Eyelash grafting is the most popular eyelash technique in the current eyelash fashion. Although we often go to graft eyelashes or often listen to the people around talk about grafting eyelashes, but we also have a certain limit to the understanding of grafting eyelashes. So now, let us try to understand the type of grafting eyelashes first. Synthetic lashes are currently the most popular, followed by mink. So, what’s the difference between these lashes, and why are they so popular? Let’s see the character of each one below.
First, from the material points, lash extensions can be roughly divided into 3 types:
Synthetic lash extensions VS Real mink lash extensions VS Flat lash extensions
Compared with the other two kinds of eyelashes, synthetic eyelash extensions are harder, but their curl and warping degree and shape are better. There are faux mink and silk options .After grafting, faux mink lash extensions can obviously reflect the effect of beautiful eyelashes, so faux mink lash extensions are the most easy to handle for lash artists.
Another kind of synthetic fiber called silk eyelash extensions are also cheaper, this kind of eyelashes is the most close to natural eyelashes, relatively soft, with a certain shape and curl, grafting effect is very natural. What’s more silk lash extensions are with a matt color so preferred by customers who pursuit true eyelash effect.
The most important is synthetic lash extensions are the cheapest among the three, so the cost is lower and preferred by many lash salons and lash artists.
Real mink hair lash extensions, an extremely soft eyelash type, when grafted, makes lashes thicker and longer, but also very soft and comfortable, mink hairs are the only real hairs that can be used for lashes and not easy to change shapes. The disadvantage for mink lash extensions is expensive and not too much options, no thickness option and cannot be used for volume sets; the material price is around 4-5 times of synesthetic eyelash extensions.
There’s another kind of soft fiber for individual lash extensions, indeed it’s a kind of synthetic fiber as well, but flat lash extensions are usually with diameter above 0.15mm, super soft and with good grafting adhesive strength. They’re more expensive than common synthetic eyelash extensions but cheaper than real mink lash extensions. The base of flat lash extensions is oval shape so with a bigger contact area with glues and real lashes so easy to paste and last longer than round base. Though super soft but as too soft so not easy to work with, only preferred by experienced and skilled lash artists.
From the curvature of the eyelash extensions, it can be roughly divided into the following 4 types:
There’re many curl options for the artificial lash extensions, J,B,C,CC,D,DD,U,M,L,LC,LD… and some customized curls.
Curl J-B: Curl up the end naturally, suitable for Japanese eyelashes, very natural, the most popular in Asian, and the natural eyelash paste part is stronger, the maintenance time is longer.
Curl C-D: Moderate curvature, grafting is not exaggerated and also very beautiful, also the most used curls in lash salons in Western countries.
Curl DD-M: Strong degree of curl, with a sense of curling, looks like a doll, but the hair adhesion part is weak and easy to fall off, need a good skill to handle.
Curl L-LD: New curls created these years; the shape is like an “L” with straight angles, suitable for some special eye shapes and become more and more popular.
When choosing eyelashes, we should pay attention to the following four points:
- Length: 9mm~12mm, designed to fit the length of natural eyelashes.
- Curl shape: the shape that suits natural eyelash to curl excessive simulation eyelash is difficult to maintain for a long time most, not natural enough, show slightly exaggerated.
- Gloss: half matt or total matt
- The thickness:
0.03mm, 0.05mm, 0.07mm, can be used for volume lash sets;
0.10mm is suitable for moderate softness of human eyelashes for good operation, and also applicable in both volume sets and classic sets;
0.12mm, 0.15mm, 0.18mm, 0.20mm and 0.25mm are available for beginners to do a classic set.
