In many beauty eyelash shops, after doing eyelash extensions, customers’ eyelids will appear red, swollen, itchy and other symptoms. Some shopkeepers think it is the glue caused allergy in the grafting, while others think it is the tape that causes the allergy.So, how to judge if the skin allergy caused by tapes?

  1. Does the customer need to have a skin allergy test?

First, let’s review the new customer reception process and fill out the questionnaire. When a new customer comes to the store for the first time, we should take 20 minutes on the consultation and communication before grafting.

Confirm customer skin condition through questionnaire and inquiry. The questionnaire asks whether the customer is prone to eye allergies. Is it easy to have skin allergies? Have you ever had a beauty injection on your face? Through these three questions to determine whether the customer is allergic skin.

If the answer is yes to any of the above, then the customer with delicate, sensitive skin needs a tape test.

  1. Adhesive tape test

To determine the customer’s possible allergic skin, we recommend the “tape test” for skin allergy test.

The skin around the eyes is very thin (about 0.2 ~ 0.6mm), which is easy to cause skin accidents, allergies and other sensitivities.

If eyelashes are to be grafted, the tape (applied to the lower eyelid) will come into direct contact with the skin. For customers with soft and sensitive skin (prone to redness, swelling and itching), it is necessary to confirm whether they are allergic to the tape.

Where is it tested? Why is that?

Generally speaking, when the consultation communication is known that the customer may have sensitive skin, it is necessary to put the tape on the inside of the arm (about 20 minutes) to conduct a skin test for tape allergy.

The skin on the inside of arms is about as thick as the skin around eyes, so the inside skin of arms is the proper area for testing.

03.After the tape test, how to use the tape

We can change the use method of the tape by confirming whether the skin is allergic in advance, so as to respond to the customer’s skin allergy.

After the tape test:

If there is redness, itching and other symptoms, the first way: use the eye special anti-allergy tape;

Second: if you don’t have a special anti-allergy tape for the eyes, you should reduce the stickiness of anti-allergy tape.

If there is no redness, itching and other symptoms, you can use tape to graft according to the actual state of the skin directly.

04Why should tape be weakened?

According to the different skin conditions of customers, the stickiness of the tape is high or low. It should be used flexibly according to the actual situation. There are roughly the following situations:

1) When using eye film, there is no need to weaken the adhesive tape;

2) If the customer has makeup and does not remove it before grafting, there is no need to weaken the adhesive tape;

3) If customers don’t make up, they need to reduce the stickiness of the tape, because the tape is easy to bond with the skin;

4) If customers have sensitive and dry skin, they need to weaken the adhesive tape.

  1. How to weaken the adhesive tape?

Lash artists will tear the tape, on their own sanitized back of the hand repeatedly adhesive, in order to reduce the adhesive tape. The specific degree of stickiness should be controlled by the lash artists according to the actual situation.

When you understand how to judge whether customers are allergic to tape and learn the tape skin test method, the eyelash artist can well control whether new customers can directly use the tape, to prevent customers from appearing allergies, redness, itching and other symptoms after doing eyelash extensions.
