As Ourlash suggested in the other articles before, the skin around the eyes is very thin and it is the most likely area to cause allergies, so it’s necessary to determine the cause of the allergy before grafting eyelash extensions.

There’re mainly three methods for testing if the customer is suitable for eyelash extensions. Let’s go with Ourlash to learn what caused the allergy and how to do the testing.

1) Adhesive tape causes allergies

During normal grafting, the tape used to protect the eyelashes should be removed within 48 hours to check for allergies.

If no allergy is caused, the customer has no skin allergy to adhesive tape. If the customer’s skin is swollen or itchy, the customer has adhesive tape skin allergy.

Solutions: Note clear about adhesive tape allergic customers, when these customers come next time to graft eyelash, need to reduce the adhesive tape, in order to alleviate the symptoms of skin allergy.

2) Caused by the composition of the glue

Test method:

The skin behind the ear is delicate, and if there is an allergy, there will be red, swollen and itchy symptoms. Observe for allergies after applying on a small area. If there is a skin allergy, rapid allergy about 30 minutes can have symptoms such as red and swollen itching. You can observe for 2 to 3 hours, if there are no symptoms of allergy, you can apply. If the glue allergy test conducted before grafting shows no abnormalities, grafting may be considered.

After 20 minutes of the glue allergy test, the customer’s eyes and skin can be grafted normally if there is no abnormality.

In the event of allergies or eye discomfort, the customer must sign a consent form for grafting.

3) Caused by the volatile components of the glue

It takes 24 hours for the glue to fully solidify. Within 24 hours, some ingredients will be volatilized, which will enter the body tissues and react. Allergic symptoms will occur within 48 hours. There’s no method to avoid this kind of allergy, but if you followed Ourlash for a while you’ll find we had talked about how to reduce this kind of allergic reactions. You can refer to the article “How to reduce graft allergy” for more details.

To highlight:

If any of the above three test results show allergies or abnormalities, customers are advised not to graft eyelashes; Seldom do customers insist grafting if she knows she will allergy to grafting, but if the customer insists on grafting, a consent form should be signed, and then grafting should be done with the customer’s knowledge, and the allergy should be borne the consequences.
